Before you read RIO’s sales pitch, just know that we use this Salmon Fly version for MANY stonefly hatches including our world famous “Summer Stone” hatch on the Yakima River. This pattern floats square, clean, and the quality materials and hackle helps it outfish many other patterns. Trim the hackle on the bottom to help it float square and consistent, it’s such a good stiff hackle that it will actually support the weight of the fly on surface tension!

During big Stonefly hatches trout can get very particular in what they eat. Over years of studying the flies that work and dont work, weve come up with one that we think youll enjoy.
